Over the last 23 days, the villagers of Helmdon have been unveiling their Christmas advent windows daily. I have had the honour of being the official photographer and so have been out and about every evening photographing them in the dark, cold, rain and frost! Regardless of the weather, it’s a beautiful, community activity that really helps to build the feeling of Christmas cheer. Thanks to all involved in putting together such a cracking display this year.I’ve added a few examples below, but the full set from 2021 can be found on the Helmdon parish council website, as well as those from previous years.
Last Christmas I was asked if I would be able to issue a doggy photo shoot gift voucher as a present. It’s been a few months, but finally this week the weather, dogs and timings were right, so off I set for my first ever paid pet photography commission.
On arrival I was met by the absolutely wonderful Marmite, Worzel and Casper, the three dogs who were to be my canine subjects for the next hour. The sun was out, the garden we were in had the most colourful flower beds the dogs were lovely – I’ve not had this much fun working (or as I see it, playing) for a long time. Thanks to the hosts for making me so welcome and being really interactive with the dogs, the shots we got were, IMHO super.
Have spent some time recently researching and updating my collection of backdrops in preparation for the Helmdon village festival (located just outside of Brackley), where recently ran a kids photo booth for fun. Got these backdrops from Amazon, which were really effective and the kids absolutely loved them!
Here are few of the shots I took using them on the day :o)
