Classic Car Show #1 – Official Show Photographer 2024

Turvey House Classic Motor Event

Last Sunday, I had the pleasure of photographing the Classic Motor Events (CME) classic car show at the stunning Turvey House for the third year running. As official show photographer for CME, I cover all their shows across the South of England, but this one is a bit of favourite of mine.

Despite a grey start, the weather was reasonably kind, and we were still able to enjoy a great day.

Diverse Collection

The show featured around 400 classic cars, ranging from sporty icons to vintage classics and unique finds. Each car had its own story and charm, making for an exciting and varied day.

Friendly Faces

One of the best parts of the day was the friendly atmosphere. Car enthusiasts, owners, and curious onlookers all gathered, sharing their passion and stories. Conversations with car owners both familiar and new are always a highlight of my day and add a little more meaning to each shot, for me at least!

As well as the huge number of classics on show, there were the usual vendors selling all manner of car related wares and toys, bars, food stalls, the Land Rover radio control car assault course (a stalwart of most of the CME shows), bouncy castles and slides and of course, the wonderful singer.

Watch out for the pictures – coming soon

Car shows are a must for any car enthusiast, but these ones have something for all the family. Stay tuned for the photo gallery from the event, coming soon. Until then, here are a few of my favourite shots and I’ll be keeping my camera ready for those unexpected classics.

Helmdon Advent Windows – Helmdon, Northants

Over the last 23 days, the villagers of Helmdon have been unveiling their Christmas advent windows daily. I have had the honour of being the official photographer and so have been out and about every evening photographing them in the dark, cold, rain and frost! Regardless of the weather, it’s a beautiful, community activity that really helps to build the feeling of Christmas cheer. Thanks to all involved in putting together such a cracking display this year.
I’ve added a few examples below, but the full set from 2021 can be found on the Helmdon parish council website, as well as those from previous years.

Canine capers! Helmdon, Northants

Last Christmas I was asked if I would be able to issue a doggy photo shoot gift voucher as a present. It’s been a few months, but finally this week the weather, dogs and timings were right, so off I set for my first ever paid pet photography commission.

On arrival I was met by the absolutely wonderful Marmite, Worzel and Casper, the three dogs who were to be my canine subjects for the next hour. The sun was out, the garden we were in had the most colourful flower beds the dogs were lovely – I’ve not had this much fun working (or as I see it, playing) for a long time. Thanks to the hosts for making me so welcome and being really interactive with the dogs, the shots we got were, IMHO super.

Helmdon Festival photo booth – Helmdon, Northamptonshire

Have spent some time recently researching and updating my collection of backdrops in preparation for the Helmdon village festival (located just outside of Brackley), where recently ran a kids photo booth for fun. Got these backdrops from Amazon, which were really effective and the kids absolutely loved them!

Here are few of the shots I took using them on the day :o)
