Helmdon Advent Windows – Helmdon, Northants

Over the last 23 days, the villagers of Helmdon have been unveiling their Christmas advent windows daily. I have had the honour of being the official photographer and so have been out and about every evening photographing them in the dark, cold, rain and frost! Regardless of the weather, it’s a beautiful, community activity that really helps to build the feeling of Christmas cheer. Thanks to all involved in putting together such a cracking display this year.
I’ve added a few examples below, but the full set from 2021 can be found on the Helmdon parish council website, as well as those from previous years.

School photo shoot – Brackley, Northants

If you were unable to get your child’s school photo this year for any reason, or you weren’t keen on the official one, BrightRise photography will be holding a 2-3 hour studio session next week in Brackley (venue TBC, likely to be Egerton hall or the old Fire Station community room). Time will be between 16:00 and 18:00, or later if interest is high.

There is no up front charge or any commitment to buy. Prices are £10 for each 6×4″, or £12.50 for each 5×7″ print. Digital copies of pictures will be £15 to own. Prints are guaranteed to be delivered well in time for Christmas.

If you’re interested in coming along, follow us on Facebook @BrightRisePhotos where confirmation of the location will be published soon. Alternatively, you can find updates here, or follow us on Instagram brightrisephotography

School photo SOS – Brackley, Northants

Were you happy with this year’s school photos?

Or was it one of those days when their hair simply wouldn’t behave, they were just in a grump, they were away when the photos were taken, you wanted the picture with siblings but couldn’t get it done? Even the best photographers can only do so much to get you that perfect shot.

At some time or another most parents will have received the proofs of their child’s photo and thought… meh. If this is you this year and you would like to try again, BrightRisephotography will be setting up a pop-up photo studio in the Helmdon Reading Room from 15:20 to 17:30 on Weds 10th November.

If you’re local to Brackley, you can book your 10 minute slot for £5 by calling 07843 980351, emailing enquiries@brightrisephotography.co.uk, or contacting us here. Proofs will be sent through to you by email shortly after and if you like them, they’re all yours as digital files for just £10.

Canine capers! Helmdon, Northants

Last Christmas I was asked if I would be able to issue a doggy photo shoot gift voucher as a present. It’s been a few months, but finally this week the weather, dogs and timings were right, so off I set for my first ever paid pet photography commission.

On arrival I was met by the absolutely wonderful Marmite, Worzel and Casper, the three dogs who were to be my canine subjects for the next hour. The sun was out, the garden we were in had the most colourful flower beds the dogs were lovely – I’ve not had this much fun working (or as I see it, playing) for a long time. Thanks to the hosts for making me so welcome and being really interactive with the dogs, the shots we got were, IMHO super.

Al fresco toddler photo shoot – Helmdon, Northamptonshire

Super excited to be working with one of my favourite clients again tomorrow on an outside location shoot for her little boy, to mark his first birthday. I’ve been travelling around looking for an ideal location; the scenery in Northamptonshire is striking and moody at the the moment, with rolling vistas of yellow fields and hay bails.

Should be fun!
